Otis relives his memories of prison life through sharp one liners and songs, as ever accompanied by his band The Black Liars, with Orson Carson on guitar and Alvy Ronson on double bass.

Zac is a well-respected French filmmaker who creates a major uproar when for no apparent reason he suddenly vanishes from his posh Parisian apartment leaving behind his lover Helene, a popular star. Marcus, his producer searches for eight months before locating Zac who has since become a homeless street bum in an expensive neighborhood. Marcus sends Zac to a posh hotel. He then sends Daisy, an ambitious secretary and aspiring screenwriter to learn what happened to the great director. It takes a lot of mutual verbal sparring and false turns (which are presented as creatively filmed vignettes that are done using a variety of techniques) from Zac before he finally tells her the truth. The two then decide to turn the story into a film. As they write, Daisy and Zac slowly fall in love. At the same time, Marcus has his hands full trying to avoid some tough Russian Mafiosos who want the money they invested back.

Progress on issues of gun rights and safety seems impossible. Eleven citizens from across the political divide try to accomplish the unthinkable: find common ground. Will they create the blueprint to bring Americans together?

A lie is a declaration of someone who believes or suspects that is entirely or partially false and expects people to believe it, so the truth can be entirely or partialy hidden. Fictions, even when they are false, are not regarded as lies. Malena and Lucas maintain a dead relationship neither is willing to end for different reasons. Fears, insecurities, third parties involved, and their imposibility to face the truth forces them to lie (each other), and according to the dictionary the people who often do that are characterized as liars.
